Sights at WonderCon 2024

WonderCon is a convention for movies, television, comics, animation, fantasy, science fiction, and all things related to pop culture. It takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. This year I once again decided to attend and was there for all three days of WonderCon.

One of my favorite things about WonderCon is seeing all the costumes people are wearing. While people wear costumes at many conventions what sets WonderCon apart is the fountain area outside the main hall where costumed people gather to show off their costumes and pose for pictures. When I arrived people had started to gather around the fountain so lets check out some of the costumes.

Some use the fountain as a backdrop like this pair.

Or this princess.

Some have poses about the character they represent.

This women warrior had quite a few poses.

There are groups like these from Star Trek.

Two elves or other fantasy creatures. I do not know what many of the costumes are about but that does not stop me from enjoying them.

Even aliens depend on their cell phones.

There are mash-ups of different genres.

More interesting costumes.

Going inside the convention center this is the view of the fountain from the third floor balcony. On the street beyond are food trucks where one can get refreshments or something to eat. Also there is a nice view of the mountains in the distance.

This view of the inside of the convention center shows its interesting architecture.

The second and third days had occasional scattered showers throughout the day so I spent much of the time inside the convention center. There were a few gatherings of costumed groups.

However there are lots of other things to see and do at WonderCon so lets check some of them out. There are lots of artists displaying their creations.

Of course there are booths selling comics, graphic novels and other printed material.

This colorful booth had fine jewelry. There were also many booths which had key chains, pins, and other trinkets to wear.

An interesting looking booth but I am not sure what it was about.

There was even one booth with people making costumes.

There was a booth of a club which makes Star Wars droids and other creatures. The miniature Yoda was so cute. All of these were remote controlled.

This booth had the Next Generation Enterprise Bridge.

There are also some celebrities like Erik Estrada from the 1970s CHiPs TV show who was posing with some costumed people.

There are also panels, seminars, and workshops with industry professionals as well as previews of upcoming feature films and television shows. One I attended was for the TV show Resident Alien which along with previews had a panel with show runner Chris Sheridan, and cast members Sara Tomko (Asta Twelvetrees) and Corey Reynolds (Sheriff Mike Thompson).

All the walking around the exhibit hall can wear a person out so I’ll wind down this visit to WonderCon with several more costume pictures. There was a huge gathering of Star Wars costumes.

A group of women.

I am always amazed at the costumes people make.

As the convention approached I was a little concerned about the not so good weather forecast but I was able to get my fill of costumes as well as see more of the other things WonderCon has to offer. I am glad I went and will most likely return again.

There are more pictures than there was room to put in the post so be sure to check out the Sights at WonderCon 2024 gallery.
