Louisiana Garden Flowers and Woodpecker, April 2015

Spring is a special time in Louisiana. It’s when the first flowers shoot up towards the sky after a long winter. I love the showy purple Louisiana Iris.

The bottlebrush makes a bright red spot in the spring.

The azaleas always put on a display.

The lush purple color of the Iris my favorite.

The fragrance of the climbing grape wisteria  is a favorite, too.

Best of all, is a bird not a flower. This woodpecker has had a feast on our old, dead tree.

Here’s his breast side.

We enjoy watching him dart and peck from our kitchen window.
